The reds are in. We fished south today, working a high falling tide at daylight. We sighted a few reds right away but as the tide fell and the off shore wind cleared the water they were everywhere. There were singles, triples and schools of a dozen or more cruising the flats. These fish are just arriving, each one we caught had a light coppery color and remoras on their backs. It was tough to get them to bite, I’m guessing that is a function of being fresh in from the Gulf, and that will change over the days and weeks to come. Here’s Dr. Dan Newman with one of the reds he sighted in the clear waters of Typhoon Bay.
