Lee Frankman and JPBrunet have been hammering the herring. We’re fishing every day, everybody is falling asleep on the boat, except for JP, he battled two big tarpon today, one was very cool at about sixty pounds, and the other was enormous, in two feet of muddy water, a mind bogling fish of about a hundred and fifty.

I took this photo on my day off. This is the “Technical Rigging Staff,” at Trapper Marine, going over solutions for securing the cooler so that we all ride safely.
Maybe you’ll take me herring fishing next time Ned? – You’re sure I won’t fall off the cooler?

The cooler is fixed! And safe to sit on! Now we just have to go through three more propellor changes to re-find that combination of pitch and cup that worked so well before we tried to make it better by destroying it. I had it tuned at 34 MPH @ 5400 RPM, with a 17 pitch, we all thought, OK, let’s go for 36 at 5600. Now we have a safe seat, but no way to really stress it. The 16 pitch, at least how they have it cupped, just doesn’t work. Back to the drawing board. Alas.

Ned,
You are going to have to incorporate in one of your narratives the case of my tarpon that jumped right into the trees. I have told a number of my friends about it and they all think it is remarkable that it stayed hooked.
Have you heard from Dick Schults about next April? I told him to book 2 days and let me know and I’ll be there. And of course JP will book a couple days too for us. I would like these dates to be set now so we know when to show up in Florida. I would like a day for Marles as well.

OK, Lee, my 2009 calendar is open and I’m filling in dates, have Dick and JP get with me at my regular email address and we’ll put it together. If I can stay awake longer than an hour after I put the boat up in the evening I’ll post the story and picture of your jungle fish.
