Everglades Fishing – Captain Ned Small

good mornin’ to ya

Filed under: Everglades Fishing — Captain Ned Small @ 3:30 pm

This fish was caught by Mike Colt.  And that’s no lie.

An interesting morning of stalking tarpon,  we jumped around a little and watched a few places,  we saw fish today,  before the wind came up and put ‘em down, we found fish from ten to a hundred and ten. We jumped a couple of smaller ones, thirty pounders, one of those on the first cast of the trip, and then we got this one a couple’a frog leaps  down the road.  Mike Colt, tarpon on fly, Everglades style!

  2. What an interesting photograph! The tarpon is impressive enough but the “target” image created on the surface of the water by a droplet falling from the fish and the concentric rings eminating from that give the picture two focal points. Also, the colors are all in that white-silver-gray-blue end of the spectrum in dramatic contrast to the bright orange gloves. Add in the reflection of the silhouetted Captain (or is it the angler) himself in the water and you have something truly suitable for framing. Something tells me we’ll be seeing more of this shot, not only here, but perhaps under license in several other venues!!!???!!! Prints, magazine covers, stationery, Everglades National Park informational literature….It’s that good!
