RIGHT ON NED...I will try to get down sometime in the near future. I am from Alabama and have fished in the past with you for a total of 4 days over a 2 year period or so. I don't know if you remember me it has been a few years. We caught snook, reds, jacks and jumped a few tarpon together.

A great response, thanks Guys. There are two answers to this question, now that I see how y'all take it, one is the Generic Name of the Style, I'm just going to declare that, "Ned's Lookdown." Period, and get that over with. Keelhauler and downeye were close seconds. And then there is the wide open spaces of naming color patterns, in this case, the illustrated fly, I have to go with the, "Red Headed Step Child." Jeff, you got a half day fishing for free, plus, doing an internet search on 'Red Headed Step Child,' I found a vast wealth of erroneous information as to origin, you can search it too, so I won't go into detail except to say that the entire phrase is, "Beaten Like a Red Headed Step Child," I like to think this stepchild will be beaten by the snook, tarpon and reds. Who knew that the actual 'Red Headed Step Child,' had a website of her own?

This led to the next choice of pattern names; "A Rented Mule." Dusky gray fox with a black mane. Also derived from the phrase, "Beaten Like a Rented Mule."

Craig, "Condescender," was perfect too.

Robert, the 'Pink Fash,' got me going too, but before I could process it, Alan's comment came in and it became, "Raincoat Flasher." That's another color combo that exists clearly in my imagination and the future.

Todd, "Halloween Candy," is another good one, leading to a whole bunch of ideas ..."Great Pumpkin," ..."Corn Silk," ..."Headless Horseman."

John, if I can extract from your suggestion, I like, "Looking Bug." That is cool.

Alan's suggestions are cool too, but I have to agree with Jeff, suddenly, fishing is not in the forefront of your imagination. ( I can relate to that!) And, Alan, you've got a half day free anytime as long as we're trolling here: http://www.dynastyqueens.com/ourladies.html

LookDown color patterns thus far,

Red Headed Step Child

Raincoat Flasher

Rented Mule

Tarzan, (swings through the trees.)

Black Hooker

JailBait, (pink)

Yellow Moon

Dusty Dawg

Your Mama's Dress

Chrome NeckTie

Purple Tourniquet

Thanks for all the fun! Keep it coming!

How about "Halloween Candy"...if it were Yellow Orange White, it would definitely be Candy Corn".

No offense, Alan, but I don't think a 1/2 day fishing trip is what you need. :)

Hey Ned

That is a cool-looking bug. How about - Tiger down-eye?

I'm not that familiar with the hook. Will it stand up to tarpon?

Keep the photos coming,

John
