one from last year…

Tarpon season is upon us, I haven’t seen white butterflies yet but I have seen brown ones. We saw the first swallow tailed kite today, a few spotted eagle rays, sawfish, black drum and sheephead. Anyway, here’s a photo from last spring, just to remember how things are going to be in a few weeks.

There is a large body of observations made up our way which try to correlate the arrival of fish migrations (mostly shad up here) with the blooming of flowers and trees. I’ve never been too big on these relationships – I usually stick to the calendar.

Have you seen the arrival of bugs predict the movement of fish?

BTW – the tarpon in that photo was a great experience in my life. Sightfished sleeper using your Billy Baroo. On cold winter days I sometimes have to remind myself of the good things to come.
