James Garland, on his first trip in the Everglades, picked a windy and cold day to go prospecting. The wind was howling, visibility was destroyed by scudding clouds, we caught a few snook and this herring.  James Garland, tarpon on fly, Everglades style!

Congrats to James – quite a “first trip to the glades.” Impressive herring you have in hand. With all of the black drum that you have been turning up it was a change to see a photo of something long and shiny.

I noticed that the fleece was on. In addition to cloudy and windy it must have been cool. In Delaware we’re still waiting on two consecutive days in 60s. The shad and herring are starting to pour into the tribs of the Chesapeake, but we’ll need some warmer temps to get serious pullage.

  2. Hey John,
We fished a ’short,’ day today. We didn’t stick anything but we had some awesome chances at sleeping giants! Wind howling out of the east.
