Hi Ned I'm researching Everglades fishing and found your page. Very interesting thought on the trails in the Everglades.

I wonder when will Anglers get to make the decisions to improve the eco system???

We have to do something to change the minds of our decision makers!!!

Fisher People we need to invest time and money for improvement of Watershed not exploitation!

As Anglers we need to share our thoughts in order to focus time and energy on improving our resource. I'm frustrated too. I know I'm not alone in my fears because I see boats lined up on the launches, fishing bridges are filled up with people and poles, but we don't have unified voice???

What do you think we should do to help the Park Service move in the right direction??? How do we band together to make a positive change?

Thanks Ned for opening this board for us to write on.
Look forward to reading more responses and meeting you in the near future.

Cheers Tight Lines

I sent in an email to the ENP website during the comment period expressing essentially the same sentiments. I remember referencing a Tom Hanks movie character, an old school, hard drinking baseball manager named Jimmy Dugan. He was talking about the game of baseball, but he could just as easily have been talking about access to the Everglades. He said, "It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. It's the hard..that makes it great!"

i've enjoyed reading your reports since i chartered you back in april of '04. after reading this post, i felt i owed you an explanation of why i chuckled after reading about the kayaks. i had a small group of kayakers way in the back quietly approach my skiff. the two gentleman paddled past my skiff and a young lady actually grabbed hold of the boat. she proceeded to ask if i had an extra beer. without thinking, i reached into my cooler and handed it over. off she paddled enjoying her beverage. one of those moments that makes you realize we can all co exist with what is already in place.
